David Pratt is a journalist, photographer and broadcaster with four decades experience of covering foreign affairs. Specialist areas include Sub-Saharan Africa, the Arab and Islamic world, conflict, security and humanitarian issues. He is currently Contributing Foreign Editor with The Herald on Sunday and Sunday National. Among many awards he has twice been named Reporter and Feature Writer of the Year in the Scottish Press Awards and also been named Journalist of the Year.

Born in 1989 in Mosul to a Kurdish family, he started working as a fixer when ISIS took over major cities in Iraq. Sangar Khaleel worked on Yezidis, the liberation of Mosul and life after ISIS in the region... with major media outlets (including NYTimes, Arte, BBC, New Yorker Magazine, Le Monde, National Geography …). The works Sangar have done won many Awards and he personaly was granted a Kurt Schork Memorial Award 2019 in fixer/local producer category. Sangar will be in London for this event.
