The overall aim of the two day workshop is to provide freelance media workers with an increased awareness of critical travel safety and First Aid skills and knowledge to help them operate in difficult and challenging situations.
The Travel Safety elements of the Workshop are themed around raising awareness, anticipating problems and avoiding dangerous situations. This will delivered in a classroom work, group discussions around possible activities and scenarios. The lessons will include personal and group deployment planning; threat evaluation and risk assessment; personal security and situational awareness; ballistics and indirect fire awareness; working in hostile crowds / riots; and conflict management.
The First Aid elements of the Workshop will introduce attendees to the basics of how to deal with a range of potential traumatic injuries that might happen in more challenging and difficult situations. The Medical subjects to be covered will include: travel and environmental health; basic life support and the use of AEDs; managing an unconscious casualty and conducting a secondary survey; managing catastrophic bleeding and ballistic wounds; fractures, splinting, and casualty handling; triage and casualty simulation exercises.
A certificate of attendance will be delivered by First Option to participants. Valid for 12 months.
For an additional cost of £5 per person, we can offer attendees the option of receiving a QUALSAFE Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate which is industry recognised and valid for 3 years for those who wish to take the exam.
